Amazon launching virtual currency for Twitch

Game live-streaming plaltform Twitch has revelaed scant details of a new “virtual currency” that will reward viewers for watching streams and allow wagers on the outcome of matches.
Amazon Game Studios didn’t reveal too many details of the virtual currency, according to the BBC, but did say it will be used to allow gamers to earn more points, and that they can be used in “polls and wagering.”
It’s unclear exactly how this ‘Stream+’ system will work, considering the increased scrutiny game streaming services like Twitch are coming under from authrorities around real-money gambling.
Amazon’s been steadily building its gaming services since its purchase of Twitch two years ago and went on a hiring spree last year. Amazon Game Studio’s first title to use the Stream+ points system will be Breakaway, a 4-on-4 multiplayer game built around the new options for viewers.
The Alpha version of the game is available for pre-registration now.
