Amazon Fire TV Cube: Mystery new device believed to be Echo mashup

Amazon is teasing an upcoming new device, called the Fire TV Cube.
The company this week published a page revealing the name of the product… and nothing else. “What is Fire TV Cube?” it asks (rhetorically, we presume). “Details coming soon.” You can sign up “to learn more” through your Amazon account.

It isn’t clear what the Amazon Fire TV Cube might be, but there’s speculation that it has already leaked. AFTVNews, which first spotted the Cube teaser page, published a picture of a cube-shaped, Amazon-branded device last September.
According to that report, the device in question is set to arrive as a flagship product, and bridge the gap between Echo and Fire TV.
The Fire TV Cube is expected to offer 4K HDR video at 60fps, and come equipped with far-field microphones and a built-in speaker. It sounds like you’ll be able to use it to control both your TV and smart home gadgets completely hands-free, though a remote could be bundled with it anyway.
It isn’t clear when the Cube will get an official unveiling, but we imagine that’s not too far off. In terms of pricing, we imagine it would be around the £100 mark.
