Amazon Dash buttons go on sale for $5 each

Amazon Dash buttons are officially here. The company’s handy little stick-on buttons designed to enable easy-reordering of household products are now available for Prime members to buy in the United States.

The connected buttons, which will automatically ship a product to your door when pressed, are available for $4.99 a pop.

However, the Dash buttons are tied to specific brands like Gillette, Gatorade, L’Oreal, Tidy, Bounty, Maxwell House, Olay and Kraft. There are 18 partners in total.

Users will need to pair their Dash button with the specific product they wish to order using the mobile app and then everything will be handled automatically.

So, for example, Dashers could affix it to the washing machine to press when running low on detergent, or to the bathroom cabinet to enable easy re-ordering of razor blades.

Amazon sends an email notification to the phone confirming the order and, to avoid repeat orders, the Dash Button will only respond to the user’s first touch.

The company says each of the 18 buttons are limited release, so Statesiders who’re always running out of household stuff when they need it most, should push the button soon.
