Amazon announces Kindle for Kids Bundle

Amazon has launched a new Kindle package aimed specifically at kids.
The Kindle for Kids Bundle includes a standard 6-ich Kindle, but with a kid-friendly cover that makes the e-reader grippier, tougher, and more colourful.
If that protective measure fails, the Kindle for Kids Bundle includes a two year extended warranty that covers accidental damage. If you’re suspicious of Amazon’s definition of ‘accidental damage’ to a tablet, it includes “knocking it off a table, dropping it in water, or your dog chewing on it,” as well as the usual “electrical and mechanical breakdowns.”
This kid-friendly Kindle also makes the process of reading more fun for little ones. It’s possible to set daily reading goals to give the something to aim for, while the Vocabulary Builder feature makes learning new words more fun than a dry old dictionary.
Simple definitions will automatically appear above tricky words, while tapping on any word will bring up definitions, synonyms, and more.

Amazon is at pains to point out the difference between giving your kid a Kindle and giving them a tablet. “It’s not screen time – it’s book time,” says Amazon, before highlighting how the Kindle for Kids Bundle won’t distract children with flashy videos or games.
Unfortunately, the Kindle for Kids Bundle only appears to be available in the US at present, where is costs $99 up front (which is $20 more than the standard Kindle). We’ll let you know when it makes the hop over to the UK and Europe.
