Aldi enters the tablet race with sub £80 Android offering

With the festive season fast approaching discount supermarket Aldi has entered the tablet race with the launch of its very own budget tablet the Medio Lifetab E7316.

For those wishing to purchase a tablet this winter, without leaving a sizeable dent in their Christmas funds, Aldi’s new tablet will only set customers back a meagre £79.99. The tablet will go on sale this Sunday, December 8.

Equipped with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, Aldi’s 7-inch tablet boasts both a 2-megapixel rear and 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Elsewhere, the Aldi tablet specs sheet is further bolstered by a 1024 x 600 pixel multi-touch display and a 1.6GHz Quad Core processor.

The Aldi branded Medion Lifetab E7316 comes loaded with pre-installed apps such as Lifeplayer and Office editing app Softmaker, whilst also offering customers a month’s free subscription to Kaspersky’s tablet security service.

Weighing just 310g, Aldi’s portable entry into the tablet market has 8GB of internal memory and possesses speedy wireless 802.11 N-standard technology, making browsing the internet a smooth experience.

With Argos and Tesco having both launched their own tablet offerings earlier this year, Aldi’s cheaper and portable option is sure to compete well throughout the festive season.
