The fitness tracker market is becoming increasingly cluttered, and now the adidas Fit Smart has been officially unveiled as a rival to the popular Nike FuelBand SE.
A more affordable sibling to the adidas miCoach Smart Run – a device released earlier this year – the new Fit Smart is a wrist-based fitness tracker which plays host to an inbuilt heart rate sensor to better monitor your all-important vitals.

Playing host to the usual array of sensors and accelerometers, the adidas Fit Smart is capable of tracking all your general fitness activities, including calorie burn and stride rate.
Playing host to an inbuilt Mio optical heart rate sensor – located on the underside of the device’s main body – the Fit Smart can enhance your standard steps taken and distance covered metrics with real time feedback on how hard your body is being worked.
Capable of syncing with your smartphone or tablet (using low energy Bluetooth 4.0), the adidas Fit Smart allows users to push all their activity and workout data to the miCoach apps, breaking down their data into more understandable and useful forms.
For those wanting instant, wrist-based feedback, the Fit Smart boasts enough inbuilt memory to store up to 10 hours of workout data. The featured 17 x 11 LED matrix display will show you the top-line latest on your performances.
Echoing the rival FuelBand slightly, a coloured LED strip runs down the side of the device can offer feedback on how close you are to a personally pre-set goal or your current workout intensity.
According to adidas, the Fit Smart’s inbuilt 200mAh Lithium-Ion battery will offer a five day battery life based on a single hour’s workout use per day. This could be concerning for those with more sizeable fitness requirements.
Offering enough variety for different user needs and tastes, the Fit Smart will launch in both black and white colour schemes, with either hue available in small or large sizes.
adidas Fit Smart Release Date and Price
For those eager to strap on the Fit Smart and head out for a run, you will have to wait a little while yet. adidas has confirmed that its latest wearable tracker will not hit retailers until next month.
An official adidas Fit Smart release date has been confirmed for August 15, with the wrist wear to set wannabe owners back the not inconsiderable sum of €199.
