Acer Chromebase is an all-in-one touch PC running Chrome OS

Acer has unveiled the first all-in-one Google Chromebase machine, running the web-based Google Chrome OS.

The Acer Chromebase will launch in spring 2015 and comes with a 21.5-inch full HD touchscreen display with a 178-degree viewing angle and 10-point touch tech.

The model will be powered by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 quad-core processor, boast 4GB RAM, 16GB of storage, will boot up in 10 seconds and features a HD webcam with 3W speakers.

In terms of connectivity, there’s Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, an HDMI out plus USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. The Chromebase will also come with 100GB of Google Drive storage.

Asus isn’t revealing how much the Chromebase will cost yet, but it will go on sale in North America and the Asia Pacific region this quarter.

The announcement follows a busy week for Chrome OS devices, with Asus at the centre of most of it.

The company is the maker of the candy bar-sized Chromebit PC dongle, as well as the Chromebook Flip, which features an all-metal design and a 360 hinge allowing it to be used as a tablet.

Elsewhere this week, Haier and Hisense released the most affordable Chromebooks yet, starting at just $149.
