Accel Telecom Voyager released as first standalone Connected Car smartphone

Accel Telecom has officially launched the first standalone in-car smartphone, the Accel Telecoms Voyager, with twin-SIM capabilities so users can utilise their existing phone numbers.

Combining an Android OS with an HSUPA Qualcomm module, the Accel Telecom Voyager is designed to provide an in-car smartphone experience for safer calling and navigation options on the move.

“Our user-friendly, cost effective and secure Carfone devices have seen substantial market success,” said Accel Telecoms CEO Marc Seelenfreund. “We expect strong demand for the new generation Voyager Connected Car Smartphone device in both European and US markets in line with recent industry reports and our own research with industry influencers.”

Accel Telecom Voyager Features
The Accel Telecom Voyager features an Android UI within a driver centric design for increased usability whilst driving. A large physical keypad and touch screen buttons are easy to use, but the Accel Telecoms Voyager voice activation functionality is key selling point for the in-car smartphone.

The in-car smartphone from Israeli telecommunications company Accel Telecom offers hands-free dialling and crystal clear, echo free sound quality for making calls when driving. The Accel Telecom Voyager also doubles up as an in-car 3G Wi-Fi hotspot connection to turn the user’s car into a mini-office.

Powered by the car’s own battery, the Connected Car smartphone also provides information regarding the on-board diagnostics of the car, including vital checks on the vehicle’s engine, airbags, brakes and ECU.

Pre-installed with Waze navigation technology, the GPS service can be launched via the Accel Telecoms Voyager’s dedicated Waze button. Plus, in case of emergencies, there is a one touch SOS button.

Using a twin-SIM system, the Accel Telecom Voyager can be loaded with existing contacts and the user’s phone number to make sure that no important calls or messages are missed when driving. Also the smartphone is compatible with all existing car makes and models, turning any vehicle into a portable business hub.

Accel Telecom Voyager Release Date and Price
Accel Telecom has yet to give any information on the Accel Telecom Voyager release date or price, but with the smartphone-centric MWC conference, the first standalone Connected Car smartphone could be set to make an appearance.
