80% of PS4 owners have never played Uncharted, says Naughty Dog

Naughty Dog, the studio behind the hit Uncharted series of games for Sony PlayStation consoles, says 4 in 5 PS4 owners have never experienced the franchise.
The company has just released a remastered Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for the new-gen console featuring all three games at the improved 1080p/60fps format.
Since so few PS4 gamers have entered the world of Nathan Drake before, Naughty Dog’s community strategist Eric Monacelli expects the re-release to be “massive.”
“We did a lot of research and discovered that around 80% of the people that own a PS4 have never played Uncharted,” he told MCV. “That was one of the reasons why we thought remastering it would be a good idea.”
Monacelli has good reason to be confident. Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, arguably the PS3’s finest game ever, was a runaway success when it was remastered for the PS4.

While it initially sounds surprising that so few PS4 owners have played an Uncharted game, it’s not all that hard to fathom.
Sony says 50% of PS4 owners never owned a PS3, so it stands to reason at least some of that 50% never got around to playing Uncharted.
Needless to say, those newcomers picking up the Nathan Drake Collection this week are in for a treat.
It should tide them over until Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End arrives on 18 March 2016.
