EE 4G coverage rolled out across nine more UK towns

EE 4G coverage has expanded with the UK’s only 4G network provider EE switching on its superfast mobile internet signal across nine new UK locations.

The nine newly connected towns will mean EE has brought the total number of EE 4G coverage enabled locations to 27 within the first 90 days since its launch.

Amersham, Hemel Hempstead and Stockport are among the nine new towns to receive the superfast 4G mobile signal, which runs approximately five times faster than 3G. Wolverhampton,  Bolton, Chelmsford, Southend-on-Sea, Sunderland and Sutton Coldfield have also been given the EE 4G coverage nod.

As the first operator to bring 4G to the UK it is important that we make it accessible to as much of the population as possible, as quickly as possible,” said Olaf Swantee, CEO at EE. “We continue to bring superfast mobile to more and more people, whether their using their devices outdoors or in their homes and offices, and to increase the speed and consistency of our 4G and 3G network across the UK.”

The 4G signal already covers 45 per cent of the British population, allowing smartphone and tablet users to download large email attachments, watch live TV, make video calls and surf the net much more easily and rapidly whilst on the move.

Currently only available on EE, the 4G signal is compatible with an increasing number of smart devices, including the Apple iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 and the brand new BlackBerry Z10 that is released today.

EE is also working to improve the network density of locations already receiving the 4G signal, increasing the number of 4G enabled telephone masts in each of the areas. This means the 4G signal will be more consistent for 4GEE customers in those towns and cities.
