Google Maps updated for the iPhone X – but don’t get too excited

Google has at long last updated Maps for iOS with support for the recently-launched iPhone X’s ultra-tall screen – but that doesn’t necessarily mean you should rush to install the upgrade.
It seems that all Google has done is stretch the previous build of Maps to fit the iPhone X, without making any tweaks to the application’s interface, consequently resulting in a worse than poor user experience.

If you rely on one-handed usability, we’d recommend sticking with the older version of Google Maps; while it doesn’t fit the iPhone X’s edge-to-edge screen perfectly, you’ll be able to reach everything with one hand.
The next build of Google Maps should iron out the creases, however.
Installing the update on your iPhone X couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is open up the App Store, navigate into the dedicated Updates section, locate Google Maps, then tap the Update button. That’s really all there is to it.
