Samsung adds the ANC Galaxy Buds 2 to its true wireless line-up

With Samsung’s Unpacked event has been and gone and pre-event speculation rang true. The South Korean manufacturer unveiled the latest in the true wireless line-up in the Galaxy Buds2.

The Galaxy Buds 2 are be a sequel to the 2019 original, and they’re the smallest and lightest earbud Samsung has made.

When we reviewed the Galaxy Buds Pro, we found there were Samsung’s best true wireless yet. Here’s hoping Samsung can continue its upward trajectory with the Galaxy Buds 2.

What features do the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 have?

The Galaxy Buds sequel are available in arrive in four colours: Graphite, White, Olive and Lavender, so you can choose a colour that suits your preferences.

In terms of look, the earbuds have a similar shape to the original but are slimmer and smaller (5g per earbud) than the Galaxy Buds Pro. There’s no wing-tip/stabiliser fin, and the surface of the earbuds is glossier than previous models. In the Samsung wearable app, there’s a Ear fit test to ascertain which of the three ear-tip sizes available is the best for your ears.

Noise cancellation is supported, and it promises to reduce background noises by up to 98%. Inside each earbud are three microphones, with one of those positioned to pick up voices for clearer call quality.

There’s also the choice of three ambient modes to tailor how much external sound filters through. Battery life matches the Buds Pro, with ANC hitting the 20 hour mark (5 hours per earbud) and 29 hours without it (7.5 hours per earbud). Fast-charging and wireless charging are both supported.

Elsewhere, the Galaxy Buds 2 improve on the original’s lack of water/sweat resistance with an IPX2 rating. Bluetooth is the 5.2 version, with support for Samsung’s Scalable Audio codec to bring better audio quality and stronger signal strength.

In terms of audio the Buds 2 feature a dynamic two-way speakers tuned by AKG, with the aim of producing “crisp, clear high notes and deep bass”.

The Samsung Galaxy Buds2 will go on sale August 27th for £139 / $149 / €149.
