Sony has revealed the PlayStation VR headset will require a special adaptor in order to plug the companion camera accessory into the PS5 console.
The gaming giant says all PSVR headset owners are entitled to an adaptor free of charge. All the eligible gamers need to do is complete an online request form and enter the serial number for their virtual reality hardware.
You can access the form here, insert the requested details and an adaptor will be sent to the provided shipping address sometime next month, hopefully in time for the arrival of the PS5 in the UK on November 19.
The adaptor is necessary because PS5 owners can only use the PS4’s PS Camera if they wish to use PSVR on PS5. For whatever reason, the new HD camera for PS5 is not compatible with the current headset.

“The HD Camera is not compatible with PS4 games – please connect a PlayStation Camera via a PlayStation Camera adaptor,” Sony confirmed in a blog post earlier this month. However, the new accessory could still come into play if Sony announces a PlayStation VR sequel in the months and years to come.
The original headset, which has been a great success for Sony, has been available since late 2016 and it’s unclear whether Sony is plotting an update to take advantage of the next-generation system’s additional power.
The wider VR sector is currently moving towards standalone headsets, like the new Oculus Quest 2, which contain all of the computing power required.
A recent patent suggested Sony was working on new controllers for a potential PSVR 2 headset, that would replace the PlayStation Move controllers that date all the way back to the PS3 era.
