OtterBox Symmetry Series Galaxy S6 case

Score

In terms of looks, OtterBox’s Symmetry Series case is definitely more beast than beauty. It’s bulky and ugly, doing little justice to the S6’s sleek frame and careful styling. Our review unit is a dull grey and white, but more appealing colour schemes are available, including blue and black, and green and red.

Built more with protection in mind than anything else, it’s predominantly made from tough polycarbonate and covers all corners and sides, as well as the back. The shell is thick, which ensures the screen and protruding rear camera get some level of protection, but it also adds lots of weight and several millimetres to the S6 in all dimensions. It’s still easy to grip though, and slides in and out of pockets without any fuss. There are also dedicated cutouts for the charger, headphone jack, rear camera and speakers.

The raised power and volume button covers, as well as the special shock-absorbing interior arrangement, are synthetic rubber. These provide plenty of protection, but make the buttons tougher to press than we’d like. Since the chunky bezels don’t lie flush with the screen, it doesn’t allow easy access to the furthest right part of the display, obstructing your thumb.
