Best Samsung Galaxy S5 Cases: Latest Cases Tried and Tested

Seidio Ledger

8 of 8

The Seidio Ledger has already been wrapping itself around smartphones and tablets like the HTC One and the iPad Air so now it’s the Samsung GalaxyS5’s turn to get the flip case treatment.

Like previous cases, the Ledger is made from a not so expensive polyutherane plastic which is more textured on the front and has a softer, more matted finish on the back. There’s a magnetic tab to hold the S5 in place and cut outs in all the right places including around the notification light letting you see when an email, text, call or a Facebook mention has come through. Inside lies a microfiber interior to guard the screen without leaving big smudges and also houses a card slot big enough for a solitary credit card or travel card. When you want to watch videos, the metal kickstand at the rear flicks out letting you view hands-free in landscape mode.

To secure the S5 in place it’s a simple case of clipping it at the corners and it’s fair to say it’s not going to budge. The soft touch back is nice to hold and the grippy texture on the front means it’s not going to slip out of the hand. The card slot is a useful addition but if you put anything thicker than a credit card inside it will prevent the magnetic clasp from closing. The lack of padding means it lacks the kind of rugged protection to protect against drops while the top and bottom of the phone is also left exposed. Our only other design gripe is that the cut out for the standby button sits quite tightly around it making it fiddly at times to press.

Aside from that, the Ledger is a slim, lightweight case that will provide decent day-to-day protection with the added bonus of a kickstand to make it handy for those train journeys when you manage to grab a table as well.
