Best Blu-ray Player 2016: 7 best Blu-ray players right now

Score

Outstanding Smart TV features and 4K upscaling

Key Features:

  • Great design
  • Generous features
  • 4K upscaling

Proof you don’t always have to buy brand-new tech kit every time, the Samsung BD-J7500 is still one of the best Blu-ray players buys well over a year after its release. The first reason: its price has come down a bit, to £130 from £190.

It doesn’t have 4K Blu-ray playback, but it does have 4K upscaling, 3D support (if you’re still bothered about that) and Samsung’s own solid selection of apps. Samsung’s bottom-rung players use the Opera TV platform instead, which just isn’t as good at present.

This isn’t a deck to buy now if you want to be on the cutting edge of Blu-ray content. However, as a stop-gap before a fully-streamed 4K future, it’s a good pick.
