Save nearly £400 on the iPhone XS’s release price in this John Lewis saving.
Once upon a time Apple was known to be the smartphone manufacturer that sold its handsets for ridiculously high prices. Whilst that much hasn’t changed, its true that the likes of Samsung and its handsets are becoming increasingly more expensive, moving away from its once mid-range territory and tiptoeing dangerously close to those 1K price tags.
We imagine, then, that the S20 – rumoured to be the affordable option of the handsets Samsung unveils tonight – will still sit well over the £700 mark. With this iPhone XS now dropping down to £629, this might be the perfect opportunity for Android users to take a walk on the dark side with a far more affordable Apple offering.
The iPhone XS is a stunning handset that offers a brilliant 5.8-inch HDR OLED display, one which truly does stun and is deserving of its ‘Super Retina Display’ title. Cased in glass and steel, the iPhone XS looks great too with the option of Space Grey, Silver or Gold, all of which give a premium finish to the 2018 flagship.
Of course, its display is somewhat interrupted by the notch, which houses the selfie camera as well as Apple’s TrueDepth technology, which assists with FaceID, a feature that works more seamlessly on the iPhone XS than its predecessor.
In terms of its camera set-up the iPhone XS packs dual 12MP sensors, both of which host Optical Image Stabilisation. The second of the sensors also offers 2x lossless zoom. But how does this differ from the set-up on the iPhone X? The XS model has the brand new Smart HDR technology, a feature which sees the XS camera capturing multiple shots at varying exposures then combining together to achieve one perfect picture.
The A12 Bionic chipset is also worth a mention, described in our review as “an absolute beast”. Really, that alone speaks for itself. Numerically, the A12 sees a 15% boost to CPU alongside a mammoth 50% to GPU.
A fantastic handset that still stands up against more recent releases from Apple, with this huge discount on its original RRP, pick up SIM-free for just £629 and enjoy the freedom of finding the perfect SIM-only deal for you and your personal usage.
