Pre-order a Sony Xperia XZ2 or XZ2 Compact and get a PS4 or PSVR totally free

In advance of the release of the new Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact, Sony Mobile is teaming up with Sony PlayStation to offer customers free PlayStation kit at no extra cost, alongside their mobile pre-order.

Pre-orders are available from Three and Carphone Warehouse starting from today, with the phones scheduled for release on April 6.

Customers pre-ordering the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact can receive a PS4 and a copy of last year’s Gran Turismo Sport for free.

Already sorted with a PS4? Or do you just really hate Gran Turismo? Then you can get a PSVR Starter Pack alongside your pre-order. The starter pack comes with everything you need to start enjoying the console’s virtual reality offering, including the VR headset, a code for VR Worlds, and a PS4 camera (the latter of which is required for use), but for the full setup we’d recommend also buying a pair of PlayStation Move controllers so you can fully embrace motion-controlling your games.

If you’re pre-ordering a XZ2, XZ2 Compact, XZ1, XZ1 Compact or XZ Premium, you’ll also be offered a free PlayStation Plus subscription, which normally retails for £49.99 a year.

Sony Xperia deals: Are the new phones worth it?

We’ve been impressed by both the XZ2 and XZ2 Compact in our early hands-on sessions with them.

The XZ2 impresses with its ability to handle 4K HDR video recording and feels like a much more modern phone from Sony, a refreshing change from previous models.

Writing our first look piece, phones editor Max Parker said, “The new vibration motor is intriguing, the 4K HDR recording neat, and the phone’s audio sounds excellent. If the camera manages to match up to its lofty ambitions then Sony could, and probably should, have a big hit on its hands.”

Meanwhile, the XZ2 Compact maintains much of what made its older brother special. In our first look we said, “Slightly chunky exterior aside, the XZ2 Compact has plenty going for it. There’s no other device – aside from the iPhone 8 – that’s this powerful and this pocketable. If you’re tired of big phones, the XZ2 Compact is for you.”
