Amazon Prime Student Discount UK: What is it and how much can I save?
In a nutshell, Amazon Prime Student is Amazon’s higher education-specific version of Amazon Prime.
That means you’ll enjoy all the benefits of a Prime subscription, which include unlimited free one-day deliveries, access to the full Amazon Prime Instant Video and Prime Music streaming libraries, plus unlimited cloud photo storage to help you stash away all those selfies.
And things keep getting better, with new bonuses including access to Amazon Tickets pre-sales and Prime Live Events. Just what any social student needs.

On top of that, you’ll have early access to Lightning deals around big events like Black Friday 2018 and get 10% off selected textbooks. Other incentives include up to 20% off Amazon Basics products. These are Amazon’s own brand essentials – everything from USB cables to laptop cases. Lots of genuinely useful kit for any student.
But how much will the Amazon Student VIP treatment set you back?
The Amazon Student proposition is plenty tempting. As we’ve said, you can trial the service free for six months, which compares rather favourably to the normal Prime offer of a complementary month of access.
After that, students can continue with the service for £39 a year – a 50% saving on the regular Prime cost of £79 per year.
Plus, NUS Extra cardholders who join Amazon Student get an additional 5% discount on all their Amazon purchases (excluding Kindle and Fire devices), so what are you waiting for?

Note that as with regular Prime, the free trial will automatically become a paying subscription if you don’t cancel it, so keep your eye on the ball if you want to preserve your pint pennies.
Amazon Prime Student Discount: What do I need to sign up in the UK?
To sign up, and to prove you’re a genuine bonafide student, you’ll need to use a .ac.uk academic email address. You’ll also need to tell Amazon your expected graduation year.
Even for the free trial, you’ll need to input a payment card as well because, as mentioned, it will become a paid Prime Student membership after the trial period (albeit at half the usual price). If you don’t want to continue, you can cancel at any time.
