Black Friday 2022: Last year’s Black Friday sale is now but a distant memory, but that means it’s time to set our sights forward to the massive end of year sale for 2022.

If you feel as though last year’s Black Friday went by in a blur then don’t worry – you’re not the only one. With an absurd amount of deals bombarding everyone’s attention from the likes of Amazon, Currys, AO and more, it was easy to get swept up in the frenzy of it all.

What do we expect?

The focus of Black Friday tends to vary wildly from year to year, so take these predictions with a grain of salt and know that it’s impossible to completely predict the procedure of this year’s event. With that said, truly astonishing iPhone deals have been few and far between recently but with rumours that the iPhone mini range could be phased out, this could lead to some incredible deals on the iPhone 13 mini as vendors try to sell off any outstanding stock.

There’s always the hope – if Sony gets its act together – that we might see a few deals for the illusive PS5 this time around. Of course, it’s far more likely that we’ll see discounts for cheaper consoles like the Nintendo Switch and the Xbox Series S, but one can dream.

What happened last year?

If there was one product that completely dominated the Black Friday sale just gone, it was the Pixel 6. Google went all in on making sure that its latest smartphone would buck the trend of being an afterthought for many Android users, instead allowing the Pixel 6 to become a must-have item due to tons of low cost, high data contracts that were just too good to pass up.

In a surprising twist and despite having been on store shelves for only a month and a half, the Nintendo Switch OLED was treated to a few price busting bundles. Gamers could grab the console with a copy of Metroid Dread, Pokémon Shining Pearl or another recent title, all with a sizeable discount attached.

A little less surprising was Amazon absolutely flooding its store with price drops across its Echo range of smart speakers, as well smart home related products such as mesh Wi-Fi networks and home security cameras. These were often bundled together into tempting buys for enthusiasts and newcomers to the smart home market alike.

At its core, Black Friday is the biggest shopping event of the year. Originating in the USA as a means of signaling the start of the holiday shopping season after Thanksgiving, Black Friday has since made its way across the pond to several countries around the world including the UK.

Black Friday has become such a phenomenon that there are very stores left that don’t take part in the sale.
