Virgin Offers 30p Per Day Mobile Internet

We already knew operators were desperate to get users onto the web, but is this perhaps the most compelling reason yet for us to agree...?
Well, no - the most compelling reason is because it's superb and really makes life a lot easier and more productive, but otherwise - yes, indeed it is.
Available to all Virgin Mobile phone customers on both pre-pay and contract from 8 December will be 'unlimited' web access on their handsets for the trifling amount of just 30p per day. "Cheaper than a bag of crisps" - as the company notes. Of course 'unlimited' isn't really unlimited it's 25MB, but if you can top that on your mobile phone - BBC iPlayer / music downloads aside - you're doing rather well.

A redesigned Virgin Mobile web portal (snapped above) will greet users too and Graeme Oxby, Virgin Mobile MD seemed suitably chuffed with the whole idea explaining: "As handsets get smarter and faster, mobile web usage has increased significantly and more customers than ever are using their handset to connect them to the internet when they're not at home. By providing unlimited access at a highly competitive rate, we are giving all our customers the opportunity to use the internet on their phone, without having to worry about racking up huge bills or working out complicated price structures."
Of course with such access you'll need a decent browsing experience so I'd suggest you grab the latest version of the works-on-everything Opera Mini and get busy...

@timple - yes, but NO ONE would use this as an everyday system - it is for those people who need access now and again. Until now occasional users have had to pay approx. £1 per day... more
