Overall, the E6400 XFR is a deliberately different proposition to competing rugged laptops. It's not best suited to situations where you really need to keep the weight down and it doesn't have the battery life or mission critical ruggedness for the most demanding environments, but it is very powerful, making it a useful alternative for anyone that doesn't want to sacrifice on performance. $3700 (US) for a laptop you can drop 3 feet while open ? I have dropped my 299$ eeepc that far and it also still work perfect.

Considering the water test in the review, I wouldn't rely on the Dell laptop to work during heavy rain (it's quite an image though!). And when the first eee breaks, you've still go... more
