Asus Eee Box
The Eee Box is supposed to be the perfect PC for your grandparents or children. It's small and cheap yet can do all the basics like write the odd email, view family photos, and browse the web. However, it's lack of a CD/DVD drive and it's inability to affectively run an anti-virus program may put a lot of novice users off.
Still, if you know of and don't mind the limitations of the nettop platform, the Asus Eee Box is certainly a great example.

As well as the DVD player writer they should add freeview+ and a remote control - then we are in very cool territory.

Well yes, you could use a USB CD drive to install stuff but to have one attached all the time so you could play a DVD movie or music CD would be a waste... more

So you state that you can't run anti-virus on it (which, to be blunt, is a lie - of COURSE you can run anti-virus, but it will just make the system very slow).
