Where is Killzone 2 ? Thats the most wanted shooter ever.

MR. Stuart Andrews, with respect, seriously are you a real gamer?

or you don't want to show that ps3 has more exclusives?

comment Gordon said on 30th December 2008

@Ahlan - it's called reading ;)

Page 6 - "We've already covered Alan Wake (Xbox 360), Final Fantasy XIII (Xbox 360, PS3), Killzone 2 (PS3), Empire: Total War (PC) and Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) several times before, so we'll assume you already know of their existence and will be looking forward to them every bit as much as we are."

howabout codemaster's open world racer "fuel"? it looked mighty interesting to me, and have always been a big fan of their racing games (from colin mcrae 1 through to grid.)

comment Ahlan said on 30th December 2008

@Gordon

ok my bad.

comment ravmania said on 30th December 2008

I know there's nothing official but I'm hoping that we'll be getting some Zelda goodness in time for Xmas 2009.

Also can't wait for the GTA 4 DLC.

comment jopey said on 30th December 2008

Any "real gamer" knows that Kill Zone 2 will be dull.
Doesn't look like much of a list to be honest. Only Bioshock 2 and Alan Wake spark my interest. The recent rumour of Crackdown 2 starting development is much more interesting. Crackdown was awesome... they were idiots not to do a sequel sooner.

comment Amir said on 30th December 2008

Cannot Wait for heavy rain, Farenheit was the most immersive gaming experience in years, hopefully next gen graphics/audio should make that experience more real then ever.

Also, my own most anticipated (imaginary) 2009 releases... who's with me?
1) Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS3)
2) Rallisport Challenge 3 (Xbox 360)
3) MechWarrior 5 (PC) - using crysis engine!!

It looks like it could finally be the year of the PS3, many top titles coming out on the PS3 platform. Quite suprised by the lack of 360 games i know Halo is there but there wasn't much else thats out on the 360 platform. These are the key titles, exclusivity. Its is good to see though PS3 finally getting the major titles out, hots up the console wars even more which means more and better games for us.
Now the Nintendo Wii, where do i start. It is a joke. So we have another year of poor games, 2008 was terrible if you compare the WIi's releases compared to what the 360 and even the PS3 had to offer. How on earth does the device sell so many is beyond me. I brought one back in 2007, loved Zelda, enjoyed Mario Galaxy and metroid, mario kart was ok. That has been it for me in what nearly 2 and half years...i used to really enjoy nintendo's products but there not producing the goods game wise no more, the other game publishers are not either. Anyway i sold my Wii 4 months ago, the novalty of the controller soon wares off, the 2002 ps2 graphics just do not cut it for me either and no to me its not just about the innovative gameply the wii brings. Half decent graphics do help. I kind of realised this a few months after i purchased it. The thing is as the motnhs pass by the graphics are not improving, where as you look at 360 games look ghow much better gears of war 2 looked compared to 1, they improve over time. With the Wii developers are limited to what they can dom that ATI chip just doesnt cut it im affriad. lol rant over. :D

comment Richard said on 30th December 2008

I'm sure Ahlan will respond with a reply for Mr .Stuart Andrews asap....
Isn't Tekken 6 also coming out for the 360 as well?

comment gingerbreadman85 said on 30th December 2008

what about Empire Total War..... I'd say that is far more eagerly awaited than a lot of the games on that list.....

comment Bluepork said on 30th December 2008

Seems to be a distinct lack of racers being developed at the moment. Would you say they have fallen out of favour?

comment Ahlan said on 30th December 2008

What about Chuckie Egg 3 on the ZX Spectrum?

comment Ahlan said on 30th December 2008

@Amir

3) MechWarrior 5 (PC) - using crysis engine!!

are you sure man???? MechWarrior 5 using crysis engine, that's awesome!!!, you have a link or somthing?

cause on IGN says that it is canceled.

comment Amir said on 30th December 2008

erm... they were just games i would personaly like to see, i don't think they are in any stage of development right now.

but yes... it would be awesome

comment Wilfried said on 30th December 2008

Any GAMERS that actually read and know what's going on in the Gaming Industry will know that there are as many big titles coming out on PS3 than there are on 360 this year. Honestly, fanboism is really starting to wind me up. Go poison other websites, do not pollute our beloved Trusted Reviews.
Siding with ilovethemonkeyhead here, how about FUEL? Also ALIENS: Colonial Marines? And yeah Crackdown 2, the news brought a tear to my eye, the original was brilliant, so much fun to be had over and over again.
Overall, looking forward to God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Fuel, Aliens, Crackdown 2, Halo 3 ODST, Bioshock 2 and Resident Evil 5.

comment jopey said on 30th December 2008

Most of my takes on these games come from watching the 1up show... but they've covered most of them and are quite a good source of information.
Killzone 2, all the enemies look the same and it's all one shade of grey. There has yet to be a video depicting any interesting set pieces or varied game play... if they had it they would have shown it by now. The online is meant to be the main fun, and I'm not keen on FPS's on the PS3.
Heavy Rain looks to be an interesting experiment, but the "game play" videos they've released are the lamest "quick time" events I've ever seen.... and there's seemingly nothing else.
Halo 3.... no thanks
Resident Evil 5, doesn't interest me much. Not after Left4Dead.
God of War 3, Final Fantasy.. I've never played any of the others so...Meh.
I loved GTA4, but have increasingly come to resent it. Just can't face going back to finish it, all that pointless "friend" phone call stuff really gets on my nerves and sucked the fun out. So that DLC is out.

@ jopey. You seem like a hard man to please, lets hope a developer comes up with something that's up your street in '09!

Oh, and speaking as someone who has actually played Killzone 2, I can tell you that the visuals on the game are without doubt some of the very best I have seen; simply stunning. The online was indeed good, but I found it no better that the recent CoD games (it actually has a better ranking system and clan support though, which I couldn't really get into in the short time that I've played it). It certainly took me a while to get used to the unusually floaty (yet unbelievably realistic) controls, and I think the single player Campaign mode (which uses a cool first-person cover system) may actually be more fun than the online multiplayer modes for a lot of people.

Personally, I'm still waiting for that much delayed release of GT5 (when isn't is delayed?), which I now hear may not even be out before the end of '09!

Good call on FUEL, chaps. It fell off my list for some reason, but as a big fan of GRID and - to a lesser extent - DIRT I have high hopes for it. I'm also with you on Crackdown 2, but at the moment its development seems to be up in the air. The last thing I've heard is that Realtime Worlds is still in discussion with Microsoft about the sequel, but is busy with its action MMO, APB at the moment. Stu.

No mention of Star Craft II ??

Guess we don't know if it will make a 2009 release date.

comment StuAndrews said on 31st December 2008

Star Craft II was mentioned (in the sections on Diablo III and Dawn of War II) but we covered it last year and I didn't want the list dominated by PC games (which is why I couldn't fit in Empire: Total War, which was also covered last year). I have to say that next year looks like being a good one for PC gamers - which is good news as 2008 wasn't exactly a vintage year. Stu.

No Chronicles of Riddick?

comment darkspark88 said on 1st January 2009

Despite the increased realism of games each and every year. I'm finding them less and less enjoyable as a majority of those I play. For instance, no FPS game since 1999's Half Life 1 has come to being as well crafted. Yes they focus on graphics and physics, but even the Half Life 2 saga did not bring out the same excitement and scripting as playing HL1 for the first time...second time and 5th time. Gameplay in 2009 I think will be shafted out in favour of increased realism. I say get rid of the "open worlds and environments" and back to solid level design and enjoyable gameplay. (I didn't like Fallout 3 as it was too open: I want to know where my objectives are). I think 2009 belongs to Blizzard as they still understand why and how games should be made. Something developers have lost sight of.

comment Wilfried said on 1st January 2009

@ comedian: Check out page 6, Chronicles of Riddick is getting a mention ;o)

comment GherkinG said on 2nd January 2009

Page 6... I read 'Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena'
And thought I saw 'Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Urethra'

Oh dear.

Going off the article and comments 2009 looks dire.

comment Xiphias said on 2nd January 2009

@darkspark88: Did you happen to start gaming or get your first PC around the time half life came out, since to me it sounds like you're just being nostalgic - I'd much rather have a modern FPS game like call of duty 4 rather than another half-life.

Looking into my upcoming list I see lots of titles that nobody has mentioned yet. Is nobody else looking forward to id's post apocalyptic 'Rage' or Dungeon Hero with it's wondeful trailer, or even the GTA meets Unreal Tornament that Prototype promises to be? Plus the new wolfenstein, battlefield heroes, damnation, bionic commando, black prophecy, borderlands, codename: panzers - cold war, demigod, dark void, heresy war and Section8.

comment Brian White said on 9th January 2009

They've already mentioned Killzone II as he said in the top of the last page.

"We've already covered Alan Wake (Xbox 360), Final Fantasy XIII (Xbox 360, PS3), Killzone 2 (PS3), Empire: Total War (PC) and Gran Turismo 5 (PS3) several times before, so we'll assume you already know of their existence and will be looking forward to them every bit as much as we are."

Also it should be added that the very picture you click on to get to this list is a picture from Killzone 2 so... please read carefully.

Good review as usual TR. This just about covered my wish list and gave me more of a reason to buy a PS3.
