Xbox 360s With 512MB Internal Memory Spotted

You probably already knew you could get an Xbox 360 with 256MB of internal storage, but Microsoft was apparently not content to stop there because some sneaky folks have noticed retail units are now coming with a whole 512MB of memory.
As reported over at Xbox-Scene, these upgraded Xbox 360s are fitted with 4Gb Samsung NAND chips, double the capacity previously offered. Everything else inside the box seems unchanged from previous 'Jasper' consoles, which is hardly surprising.
Given the constantly falling prices of flash memory, it's hardly surprisingly to see the upgrade. In fact, I wouldn't be at all shocked if it's costing Microsoft less to buy these new 512MB flash chips than it was to buy the previous 256MB ones. It doesn't look like there's any outside indicator of whether an Arcade system (the only SKU with internal storage) comes with 256MB or 512MB of memory, so if you're in the market you might want to hold out a little while in the hope of getting a little more for your money. Or you could just be sensible and buy a system with a hard drive like all the cool kids.
On the subject of the Xbox 360 Microsoft's Xbox Original's programme looks to be coming to a close, with one final title promised before the scheme is wrapped up for good. Games already on the service will still be available, but no new titles will be added hereafter. It's time to move on, folks.

If the new xboxes are fitted with 4gb does that mean the older ones had 3.75gb? That seems pretty odd. And what is all the other memory used for?

4gb not 4GB... 4gb/8 = 512MB
