E3 2009: Nintendo Announcements

Nintendo's E3 announcements were probably the least revolutionary of the big three. Of course that's hardly surprising when the Wii already has a motion sensitive controller.
Nonetheless, a new input for the Wii was talked about: the Wii Vitality Sensor. Attached to a finger, the vitality Sensor will measure the wearers pulse, as well as "a number of other signals being transmitted by their bodies" - although what those are is anyone's guess thus far.

Wii Motion Plus was, unsurprisingly, talked about as well as Wii Sports Resort, the upcoming title designed to make use of the new, refined controller. New games to look forward to include Wii Fit Plus, which as the name implies is a sequel to Wii Fit, bringing yet more fitness training with it, New super Mario Bros. Wii, a simultaneous multiplayer side-scrolling game and Super Mario Galaxy 2, which should be pretty neat, too.

The DSi will see an update in the summer enabling photos taken on the console to be uploaded directly to Facebook which isn't exactly persuading me to upgrade from my DS Lite any time soon. Golden Sun DS sounds pretty cool, however, considering how awesome Golden sun was!

Also on the way are WarioWare D.I.Y. letting players create their own mini games, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story will, apparently, bring "trademark hilarious dialogue" and "two concurrent storylines" in 'fall' while Mario vs Donley Kong: Minis March Against will arrive on the DSi Store on 8 June for 800 points, with this third instalment in the franchise offering user-creation of levels.
All told, a bit of an anti-climax from Nintendo.
