nVidia Pushes PhysX Onto Nintendo Wii

Mere days after touting its PhysX SDK as being available charge to PlayStation 3 developers free-of-charge, nVidia is making a similar announcement for the Wii.


Having being been approved as a "third party tools solution provider," nVidia is able to provide registered Wii Developers with its PhysX APIs and physics engine, for use in Wii games. nVidia's Tony Tamasi, senior vice president of content and technology commented: "With NVIDIA PhysX technology, developers can easily author more realistic game environments for the evolving demands of a broad class of Wii gamers."

We've already seen some great physics-based games for the Wii, such as Boom Blox, so it will be interesting to see what developers can do with the PhysX engine. On paper one would expect even more physics-y gaming to be possible, but we'll have to wait and see if any devs actually take up the PhysX gauntlet.

Sureley the Wii used the ATI Hollywood GPU. Are nVidia support ATI now?? I'm sure its technically possible but is it desirable for nvidia to be doing this?
