Sadly there were a few flaws to be found with Mirror's Edge on the console but I have high hopes the PC version is going to iron out at least some of them - that's definitely the impression my hands-on time at nVision earlier in the year indicated, anyway. And if you do grab the PC version of Mirror's Edge, you're almost certainly going to want an nVidia GPU in your PC, because otherwise you'll miss out on a bunch of PhysX enhancements Dice is working into the game.

Not convinced? Then you clearly haven't watched the above video. Previously I've criticised (okay, slated) PhysX for not really adding anything to games - Unreal Tournament 3 being a notable example. However, I'll happily admit that Mirror's Edge with PhysX does look significantly better than without. And there's the possibility of seeing a performance boost by offloading physics processing onto a GPU, too.

I only see one possible problem with the PC release of Mirror's Edge. It's not actually set to happen until January next year, by which time we'll have a seen a slew of other games come and past to wipe memories of Mirror's Edge from out minds. Still, I've got my copy reserved so I shall no doubt be pleasantly surprised when it turns up in the post.

As has been mentioned on bit-tech, they should have released the game now, and then patched it in Jan.

Nice to finally see a relevant "real world" use for the quite excellent PhysX cloth modeling. The tech demos were always pretty cool but their use in-game always seemed a... more

I'm more concerned about the gameplay getting fixed for the PC version than how realistic they can make the polythene.
