With adverts in Rock Band 2 already pinning the release of a new Xbox Experience in November, it's hardly a surprise to hear that Microsoft has gone ahead and confirmed that its new dashboard will go live on the 19th of that month. Better still, the release will be worldwide so, not as-per usual, we won't be left in the cold while the yanks get to play with the new toys!

In case you still aren't aware, the updates included include a complete (and much needed) overhaul of the dashboard interface, the addition of Avatars, basically the Xbox equivalent of Miis and hard drive installation of games, keeping that ever-so-noisy DVD drive under control.

With the Xbox 360 Arcade under £100 at Sainsbury's until the end of the week, there really never has been a better time to jump in and buy one. Especially with Gears of War 2 just around the corner!

Speaking of games, Bungie, clearly not ready to give up the Halo franchise after its split from Microsoft, has announced Halo 3: Recon. The stand alone expansion is set before the events of Halo 3 and it pitched as "a new chapter in the Halo saga that lets gamers experience events leading up to the epic story told in Halo 3 through the eyes of a new hero in the Halo universe".

Of course, all that really tells us is that we won't be playing as Master Chief. Still, Bungie hasn't let us down so far and thus I can only assume that Halo 3: Recon will be brilliant.
