Manhunt 2 earned itself some notoriety last year for becoming the first game banned in the UK since 1997 (Carmageddon for the interested). Over a year after that ban, numerous modifications to the game and a successful appeal later, though, Rockstar's controversial game will now see a UK release.

October the 31st, that is Halloween, is the date in question; exactly one year after the game was launched to the rest of the world. Rockstar actually won its appeal back in March, but hadn't announced a UK release yet - quite possibly as a result of finalising all the amendments required in order to allow that release.

Presumably this version of the game, being released on the Wii, PlayStation 2 and PSP, won't have the same "unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone" the original apparently exhibited, but that's is yet to be seen by the UK public. More importantly, it's debatable whether UK gamers will be particularly interested in shelling out for a title that has not only been available elsewhere for some 12 months (and thus importable if you realy wanted to) , and which was by many accounts fairly mediocre anyway.

Still, better late than never, Rockstar, and at the very least the launch adds insult to injury for the now disbarred Jack Thompson who was definitely not a Manhunt 2 fan.

I think there is a very fine line not to be crossed here. Manhunt was a great game and I have no doubt that Manhunt 2 will be equally as good. The main concern here is that the Wii... more
