Manhunt 2 Getting UK Release Comments

well.. better late than never I guess (even if it not the proper version).

I didn't realise it was released elsewhere and not here.. Its funny (and scary) to think its OK for other people from other countries to play it but not us Brits!! Do the government not trust us or something..? maybe they think everyone who plays it will go out and hunt some innocent victims... ahem, I think not.

At the end of the day, if you're a complete nutter and play the game.. then go out and kill someone then you defiantly have a screw lose and would have probably done it anyway but to 99.9999% of people wont and just enjoy the game as it was intended.

There are some pretty nasty films available that people can rent or buy.. like the SAW movies so why are games getting the bum deal here :(

Although I dont condone the fact that the game was banned (I agree that anyone who claims they were affected by a game to kill/hurt someone definatly had issues before the game was involved) i imagine the main difference between a film and a game is that a film "just" shows you the violence, in a game you actually have to perform the violent act, which is a significant difference really.

I think I read that the main reason that it was banned was because the violence didnt really have a reason or a context, it was simply that violence had been added just to have violence in the game!

stelph you have a good point there but again there is a difference between playing it on a game and actually doing it in real life..

you could say something about that quad bike "Pure" game.. will people actually try and jump off a mountain on an ATV and do a trick or 2 while in mid air?

There is a warning not to do this at the start of the game, maybe they could do this with Manhunt??

the warning could read:

"The actions taken in this game are pure fantasy, killing people is illegal and morally wrong, please dont do it" ;)

I think there is a very fine line not to be crossed here. Manhunt was a great game and I have no doubt that Manhunt 2 will be equally as good. The main concern here is that the Wii version of the game invites the player to recreate the kill moves with the Wiimote. I personally believe this is morally wrong and should not be allowed. It is truly well and good to criticise a movie or game for its violence but when the level of realism is increased by acting out the murders, you must stop and think for a moment: Should it really be allowed?
