Following on from the news of a 160GB PlayStation 3 and a Wireless Keypad attachment, Sony has added to the mix by announcing yet another PSP revision.

As the image above, courtesy Reg Hardware, indicates, there's pretty much nothing on the surface that would indicate any sort of update. However, there is now a built-in microphone for using VoIP applications, such as Skype or and an enhanced screen. While stil the same size and resolution, 4.3in and 480 x 272, Sony says it is now brighter than ever, making the screen easier to use in bright light.

In vaguely related news, Microsoft has given its Xbox 360 controller a slight refresh. The upgrade extends as far as making the d-pad more responsive, and less 'mushy' to use, if rumour is to be believed. Aesthetically there's no change, so you won't have to hide your old controllers in shame when your mates come over, but if you've tried playing any game that needed heavy use of the d-pad, you'll know why the upgrade is a worthwhile one.

pity the 360 upgrade is only a limited edition for the new PES game i believe, would probably replace at least one of my pads otherwise, but I reckon it will either be sold out or ... more

anyway, good riddance, to the xbox controller d-pad. mushy pile of 5417 did favours for nobody.
