We've been telling you this one's been coming for a while, but as of Friday Microsoft's refresh of the middle-of-the-road 20GB Xbox 360 will should swing into place. As of the 15th, for the same £199 as the currently-available 20GB Xbox costs, the console will come with a 60GB hard drive as standard instead.

As Microsoft's long-windedly titled Senior Regional Director, Entertainment and Devices Division Neil Thompson puts it: " No one device offers the depth and breadth of entertainment that Xbox 360 can deliver and we know consumers need increasingly more and more space to store the amazing digital entertainment content we provide. Now the Xbox 360 has triple the space to house all your entertainment needs at no extra cost ".

Arguably the new 60GB SKU is likely to pull a lot of custom away from the 120GB Elite. Although the black does still look better, paying an extra £60 for nothing but a further 60GB of storage probably won't be that attractive a deal to many.

Mind you, for an extra £100 Sony will give you a PS3 with an extra 20GB of storage and a Blu-ray drive. Although, with titles such as Final Fantasy XIII dropping their PS3 exclusivity, the choice between an Xbox and a PlayStation is becoming harder by the day.
