Not too long ago Rock Band 2 had a 'premium' drum kit, manufactured by ION (of the ION iED05) was leaked. Now Activision and Logitech have announced that the latter is teaming up with the former to create a set of similarly better-than-the-standard-set of instruments for Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Supposedly these will allow "players to elevate their Guitar Hero jam sessions to full-fledged rock concerts" although we might suggest that if you aren't 'rocking' with the normal guitar getting a more expensive one isn't going to solve the problem. Annoyingly there's no imagery (the guitar pictured in from the last game) or, in fact, any information at all about the peripherals themselves. However, Bruce Lancaster, Vice President and General Manager of Logitech's Gaming Business, had this to say:

"As huge fans of Guitar Hero, we are very excited about the opportunity to bring the Logitech experience to the Guitar Hero franchise. A few years ago, Logitech refined the consumer steering wheel market with high-end controllers that enhance racing games. Now we are looking forward to elevating the market for premium music-based video game controllers in a similar fashion ."

Whether Logitech can claim it 'redefined the steering wheel market' is a matter for debate. Luckily Logitech does make some very nice products (I'm looking at you, G25 driving wheel and G5 mouse) so we can almost certainly expect good things from the Guitar Hero: World Tour set it is producing.
