Guitar Hero and the Nintendo DS isn't the most obvious match going, but apparently nothing can stop Activision's quest for world (or at least platform) domination because Guitar Hero: On Tour (good name choice!) is exactly that. More importantly, in America is has just been released and, so our snooping tells us, we Brits have but a further month to wait to get our grubby mitts on the title.

Why, you may ask, would you want to do this? For starters a DS-specific controller which plugs into the GBA slot offering a unique way of playing Guitar Hero, the "Guitar Grip" which used the buttons as per all the previous titles, while the touch screen is reserved for strumming, repairing broken strings and various other game features. Multiplayer is also on the bill which should add a bit of longevity to the single player campaign.

25 tracks are included with the game, of which 20 are exclusive to On Tour - the rest being drafted in from other Guitar Hero titles. Highlights, if you take my warped view of what constitutes "good" music include Smash Mouth's All Star, Blink 182's All the Small Things (also available on Rock Band) and Kiss's Rock and Roll All Night. Other artists including ZZ Top, Maroon 5, Ozzy Osbourne and Nirvana, to name but a few, are also featured.

All told, those of us too addicted to Guitar Hero III or Rock Band to be able to cope with more than a few hours away should find the ability to carry a quick fix in our pockets very welcome. To the three or four of you who haven't yet played Guitar Hero at all, what better way to get your first hit?
