Not perhaps the most exciting upgrade the PSP could receive, but come the next firmware update (to version 4.00 to those counting) the Network section of the XMD will have an Internet Search icon, paired up to Google's network.

The idea is to allow easier access to an oft-used aspect of the PlayStation Portable's web browser. Results within the XMB are exactly the same as would be returned by Google normally just with a different presentation.

Up to 20 previous searches can be saved for quick retrieval, but in all honestly that isn't likely to be a selling point - not that a free update needs one. Possibly this addition could pave the way for further sites to offer their results in a PSP-specific way in the future, which could be interesting.

Also in this update is the ability to speed up and slow down playback of video files played from a memory stick. Again not revolutionary but probably wanted by a few PSP owners out there, especially as it's something we'd have thought would be possible at launch.
