Doh! The feature was finished before this bit of news became public. I'll see what we can do about making some amendments to reflect the news, though I'd disagree that 3DTV is finished just because Philips has closed its division. We're still in the early days - and crucially Panasonic and Sony have yet to announce any real 3D products - but a lot will depend on the reception of 3D films and (potentially) sports events in the next two years. As I said at the end of the article, the factors that make 3D compelling in the cinema don't necessarily apply in the home, but a lot of people seem to believe in it, and I suspect they're in it for the long haul.

Oh I wasnt suggesting that 3D was finished, I agree with the article in that I think following HD that this is the next logical step! As you say, other manufacturers are working hard on bringing 3D to the mainstream and Philips just appear to have taken a rain check on developing 3d at the moment, but I am pretty sure that once this recession goes away that they will re-open the division and get back in on the game!

Having just seen on bit-tech that Philips are closing their 3d devision, this article had quite an ironic timing!
