Tesco Technika LCD32-209 32in LCD TV Comments

Although I don't own this specific TV, I've got another Technika LCD that exhibits pretty much the same negative points on the SD source. However, it's a 19" for the bedroom with built in freeview and DVD player, and for £150, I wasn't going to argue with that. There's no way I'd have it as my "main" TV, but it certainly has a place in the house.

It's good to see TR review budget TVs because they're no longer confined to supermarkets but are sold in electonics retailers such as Dixons, etc.

While the TV here seems attractive. For £60-80 pounds more, you could probably get a Samsung one in the same size. While that might be a lot of money for some consumers, you are getting superior image quality from a recognised brand. In the long term, this probably represents better value. Do you agree?

I agree. 280p to waste. This is lots of money to throw into any random product, you are not buying a cheap portable radio or phones.

Being a Tesco product, the price will be the same everywhere i.e. not discounted online - unless Tesco have a sale.

You'd be better off looking online - I saw a Sanyo 32" LCD for £299 on ebuyer.com

I just had a good look online and for £50 extra, you can get the Samsung LE32A455 32" on play.com. There is absolutely no reason to go with this Tesco tv.

I agree with John that this is not a great TV but for the money its a good starter into flatscreen biggish TV land an I now have one as my main TV after experiencing bigger and more expensive models at friends' houses, it can hold its own for sound and sharpness and will suffice among us poorer folk trying to cheer our situation up in this recession for a year or two....a bigger and more common brand can then replace this budget item when we're more flush with money. Then I'll have a decent tv in my bedroom.......Caio... ps- I also wonder if Grundig actually have some connection to Technika since the 'shells' etc are identical....

I bought one of these TVs last year and have been completely satisfied with its performance ever since it was switched on for the very first time.
I researched 32" flat screen televisions online for some time - comparing products from Argos, Comet, PC World, Currys - and other online websites.
I felt that Tesco were offering what I was looking for at a price I could afford - the mere fact that I received double Tesco points didn't have anything to do with it!! Especially as I can also shop online through the Nectar.com website for Nectar points.
All in all it is just what I want in a TV - unfortunately I cannot programme my Sky+ remote to work with it, despite Sky giving me several codes to try.
Perhaps this is something that Tesco can look into and put into the manual - as they have for the smaller television that I bought from them for my conservatory.

Tesco said they do not repair the Technica`s.....that cost of £399 was wasted
Will not buy this model again

Had similar problem with mine, again bought about 18 months ago. Began failing to start up from standby and steadily getting worse. Seems we have more rights than the bog-standard 12 month guarantee - pass the word on.

I got the 26 in version of this set from Tesco about 2 years ago...impulse purchase because seemed very cheap. Set performed well for about 14 months, then like other reviews here I had problems switching the set on...eventually packed up altogether. Tesco customer service would not repair but did send me a £100 refund...then got the on/off switch fixed by local TV repaireer for £50. Not sure how long it will last, but set performs well.

I have had similar problems with an LDC37-207.This was purchased in December 2007 ans not used for six months after a short time in use. After January 2008 set started to lose the EPG and channel changing was slow and erratic. Tesco tried to blame my installation and aerial, but I had a new one fitted. Tesco denied responsibility and said set could not be repaired because they did not have any spares. Also refused to replace set because it was out of warranty. When I quoted the Sale of Goods Act 1997, they did offer me £250 but I refused and am taking them to the Small Claims Court. Wish me luck

I bought the Technika 22''HD Ready LCD TV with built in freeview and DVD player(white)(13 Aug 09)......A really good price of £175.00 Today 7 Oct 09, its going back and im getting a refund ! Firstly whenever switching the set on, a high pitched irritating buzzing noise starts for a second or two. The teletext has disapeared, and the colours are never the same when watching other channels . Im constantly entering menu to change colour contrast etc,whenever I switch channels , and this set has a direct roof aerial straight in to the set. Coupled with that the picture is very poor,no sharp lines,colours fading in to others........Tomorrow im buying a Toshiba 22dv616db (white) lcd tv/dvd. Ive learnt a lesson here, '' you get what you pay for'' ! Technika ? No thanks,never again !
