As cool as the use of the CELL processor and the cool DVR facility is, this 2K and 4K high definition stuff is giving me a headache.
I know that Toshiba recently showed a prototype 56-inch, 4K x 2K television, which Toshiba chooses to interpret as 3840×2160. I can see the convenience of these figures as this is is an easy resolution to interpolate from 1080p (2x) or 720p (3x) but really there are so many 4K 'standards' (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_resolutions#Movies, for an example).
I wish that everyone could settle on a single resolution or we will have the whole 'Full HD' vs 'HD Ready' confusion all over again in a few years time.

I have yet to see if the IQ of this set beats Kuro ... (doubt it but ho well) ..

@Mário F - nobody knows real world performance as yet, it has just been announced but it will be interesting to see if it can beat the Kuro gold standard!

@Gordon - If this set was released from a company that has more "advanced" tvs like panasonic or samsung i would believe we could have a kuro killer and i would be thrilling with expectation, even if it reaches the point it will beat kuros the expected pricetag will make little appeal to the market.
Hopefully im gonna buy a panny G10 (V10 is unavailable for months here) and pray in 4/5 years (if the set will last this long) pioneer has already returned and released a new uber Kuro set lol

Wait. Seven grand!? Yowzers. I expect this will filter down to some more reasonably priced TVs in due course. For now, it's only for fools and oligarchs.
