This is great news, I mean literally the NEWSiniss of it, not just the hope and expectations that the 3D transmissions will be fun.
To that end I sent this link to the comments section of a timesonline article by Kevin Maher who today rubbished 3D deployment in forthcoming films like Avatar, he really is a bit po - faced about it all.
I hope they publish my comment with the link to this site, not just because there maybe some additional footfall to here, but because I reall want to give Kevin 'One in the Eye'
Cheers !

Hopefully "ColorCode's" 3D system is better than their website. Terrible mess; and it opened a new tab for every page.

I've yet to see any advantage from 3D that outweighs the disadvantage of wearing the glasses. Oooh, gimmicky things pointing out at me, getting in the way of the story - that's what every movie and TV show needs - not.

Chuck is being broadcast in ColorCode tomorrow on Virgin1. Should be good!

Perhaps unlike many here I can recall the commencement of colour TV broadcasting here in the UK. It was regarded with similar scepticism as some here and other as reported by Frank see this emergent 3D (there is always a Luddite contingent about). We are at the outset of perhaps of a true attempt to generalise 3D technology. Early attempts are crude, we only have to look at virtually any technology for that. But I for one look forward to the roadmap ahead - eventually in 3D one hope ;)

Thanks Chocoa.
I just checked again the comments sect of Kevin Mahers article "Why 3D as an art form stinks" and a really really big suprise is that they didn't publish my retort, whether that's because it had a link to an external source or because they allowed my preious comment to the effect that Sky will commence trials I know not.
I suspect they were too busy working up an article on Press censorship in Iraq/Albania/The Rest of the World, so clearly they could not allow adverse contributions to appear in their paper.

I can just see all the different channels using different 3D systems, and us having 14 pairs of glasses to sift through every time we change channel.
