LG Producing 32in OLED TVs in 2012

LG isn't doing to badly on the OLED front. As well as having a 15in OLED TV coming in December, all going according to plan, the company should be producing 32in panels in 2012.

According to CEO, Kwon Young Soo, who one would have thought should be pretty clued up on LG's plans, "we plan to produce 32in OLED panels for TVs in 2012" adding that "The commercial success of OLEDs hinges on how it shows its superiority compared to LCD technologies." Okay, so we'd like to see OLED TVs of a living-room friendly size - 11in and 15in doesn't quite cut the mustard -available sooner than that, but at least we know they're coming.
Hopefully by that point the panel manufacturing process will be cheap enough to make TVs using them affordable to a larger audience that the likes of Sony's XEL-1 appeals to. According to LG producing larger panels is preferable to smaller ones as "the larger the display, the more efficient the OLED technology." Hopefully that efficiency relates to the production of such panels, as well as their performance.
We'll get to find out in, well, three years give or take.
