Panasonic Announces 85in Plasma

It's a common enough scenario: you're neighbours both have 65in Panasonic TH-65VX100E plasma TVs, you simply have to get something better (as a euphemism for better) but you just can't fit the 103in TH-103PF9. The solution? An 85in Panasonic plasma TV of course!

Obviously this 85in plasma has a Full HD, 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution - what else? - with its contrast ratio is quoted at 40,000:1 static and 2,000,000:1 dynamic. Size-wise the panel has an area four times that of a 42in plasma but manages to cram its working into a 99mm thick package (which while large, is hardly extravagant) weighing 30 per cent less per inch than its 103in sibling.
Unsurprisingly given its size, the 85in plasma is targeted more at business users than home installations - where a projector is probably a better solution at that size any way - as evidenced by the availability of Dual-Link DVI input, in addition to the same multi-function slot featured by the 103in model. Additionally "LAN control" is offered, enabling the TV to be controlled, oddly enough, over a network.
So, to surmise: It's not going to be cheap, it's too big to be practical for the majority of homes. And I want one.
