LG 47in 47LH50 3D TV Launches

Yesterday LG announced a 15in OLED TV which will come in December but today's announcement, the 47in 3D-capable 47LH50, will arrive - in Korea - next month. That still doesn't help us Brits, but it could mean a transition over here, if there is one, will happen sooner.
Using LG's 3D television as intended will require a pair of polarised-lens glasses for each viewer. While arguably less elegant than, say, nVidia 3D Vision which uses active shutter glasses, there is a cost benefit when buying multiple glasses and unlike a PC, a TV is very likely to be watched by multiple users.
If Google Translate can be trusted, the 3D effect is achieved without any compromise on viewing distance or direction, though with no actual stats mentioned it's hard to say what that means in real-world terms. It seems, also, that to get 3D content at the moment will require a PC, as no other sources of 3D video with which the TV is compatible are available.
LG seems fairly confident about its likely 3D TV sales, suggesting the market will comprise some 30 million units by 2012. Let's hope we have some decent, readily available, easily played content available by then.

3D in the Uk! - Hold on, it would be nice if we could get a decent (non Sky ripoff) HD service first!
