3D in the Uk! - Hold on, it would be nice if we could get a decent (non Sky ripoff) HD service first!

Why are passive glasses less elegant than active ones, there is the potential for resolution reduction ... but they could just double the resolution whether horizontally or vertically.
Active shutter can give some people headaches, require 100hz plus real refresh non of this 'upscaling' style upping of the refresh rate and batteries changing + heavier eyeware + the expense of having say 10 people to watch some sport or the newest blockbuster vs cheap as chips passive glasses.
If anything passive are more elegant, and as the mighty John Archer has said on many occasions, there's more to image quality than resolution.
