Well the two top pictures didn't help any (PSP and PS3) both failures imo.

and 98.9 Billion Yen is what in pounds exactly?

@Ohmz PSP and PS3 both failures imo? LOL

Sony as a whole company(Sony picture, Sony ericsson, Sony bravia, Sony BMG, Playstation)

150 billion yen ($1.5 billion) net loss for the fiscal year.

but Microsoft's XBox Group Still Operates at a Loss, XBox Director Quits said: A year or so ago, Information Week revealed that Microsoft had lost about $7 billion in its XBox business ALONE.

so lest see

So Sony(not only playstation) loses 1.5 billion to Microsoft's 7 billion...

and btw im not saying 360 is a failures. Wii, PS3, PSP, 360, DS, all are great consoles.

Oh God, what did I do?

And btw, economy crisis says HI

Ahlan: Eh, 1.5 billion is sony's overall loss, it says nothing about the profitability of the departments and products.

comment Chocoa said on 15th May 2009

Without wishing to propagate the story of piracy here, its worth noting that they can STILL make a profit from Sony Pictures. In saying this I am not decrying their profits. But it is in the 'climate of piracy'. So it proves that 'fair' margins are there in soft goods not hardware I guess.

Hardly a surprise when you have a former record company executive as your boss. Expect more losses as this man pushes through his ideas of transforming sony into a "contents distribution channel" and further sidline this companys once legendary hardware division.

Since when was Sir Howard Stringer a record company boss? Because I'm pretty sure CBS has never published music.

comment ffrankmccaffery said on 15th May 2009

Hugo: cbs ofcourse doesnt publish any music but sony does and thats where stringer began his career with them.

Ahlan: Do you work for sony's PR dept or something?

Xbox division may have lost 7 billion US, but Sony made a "150 billion yen ($1.5 billion) net loss for the fiscal year." including "Sony picture, Sony ericsson, Sony bravia, Sony BMG, Playstation" - I'm willing to bet Sony Picture, bravia and BMG made money - leaving only ericsson and playstation losing money - So that 7 billion figure you were talking about for MS 360 would suggest that perhaps things aren't any better with sonys playsation division?
