Is it wrong to be even more concerned for Apple's move to DisplayPort now?

DisplayPort (DP) is HDMI without any royalty fees. I guess you don't see DP port as companies signed several year contract to have HDMI, securing the port future to Sony and partners.
I would like to see more DP ports, as the plugs hold very well, and has a similar feature as the iPod cable clip system, but on the larger side of the plug, easier to press down, which ensures that the plug won't fall off, which seams to be a problem on many TV's based on what I read on forums.

You can envisage this new, more diminutive, connector being rammed into USB ports by users can't you..!
Incidentally the comment on proprietary connectors is quite right, it is something that should be avoided like the plague, furthermore you can probably extend this to all fields of computing (Hardware Physics standards anyone?).
