Following on from the announcement that YouTube would be extending the 10min file length limit, the web-based broadcaster is teaming up with MGM to offer full-length films on the film company's channel.

First to make the jump will be the brilliant The Magnificent Seven and the less-brilliant (okay, god-awful) Bulletproof Monk. These films, as well as other titles once added, will be free to watch, paid for only by the surrounding by adverts. Presumably some manner of revenue sharing model is in place between MGM and YouTube to make the partnership worthwhile for MGM.

Clips from other films, such as Legally Blonde, will also be posted up on the channel, according to Reuters. We won't hold that against MGM, though. One was more than enough, is all I'll say on that subject.

One small omission, so far, is that there's no indication whether these films will be limited to US watchers only. Time Warner channels, such as HBO and Showtime, already broadcast post-airing on YouTube but only in America. Hopefully MGM won't impose the same restrictions. Especially if some of the old Bond films make their way online!
