Sony's latest thin range of TVs may not be svelte by Hitachi 1.5 standards, but at a mere 7.4 centimetres thick, they're hardly podgy. Dubbed the F-series the new sets aren't just impressively thin either, but also offer a decent array of specs and features to back up the stylish looks.

Three different panels are available with 46in and 40in models offering a Full HD, 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, while a 32in model comes with a lower 1,366 x 768 pixels. Elsewhere all the specs are the same: a 3,000:1 Contrast ratio, 100Hz Motion Flow modes and 24p playback. A 2.4GHz wireless remote is included, negating the need to point at the screen - a small, but rather cool detail.

Connectivity-wise a trio of HDMI and D3 (the Japanese equivalent of component) ports, dual composite and a PC input are all present. An Ethernet port is also on board allowing media streaming direct to the TV from a NAS device.

Availability is only known for Japan at the moment, with all three models slated for release on the 25th of March. As for price, the sets should retail for ¥400,000 (about £1,900), ¥290,000 (about £1,400) and ¥200,000 (about £1,000) for the 46in KDL-46F1, 40in KDL-40F1 and 32in KDL-32F1 respectively.
