While we still eagerly await the arrival of D-Link's upcoming media streaming device and have found many of its contemporaries pretty good, one can't help but think it easier if we could do away with such devices and chuck our media straight onto a TV. Luckily LG may have a solution, going by the name of the 52LG71. Sporting 802.11 wireless, this TV will be capable of connecting without wires to other devices such as HTPCs or perhaps even a wireless NAS (Network Attached Storage) device.

As the name suggests, the set boasts a 52in panel, which offers a 1,920 x 1,080 (Full HD) resolution, though these are the only technical details currently available. There's also some confusion over the type of WiFi on offer, with some reporting it as unspecified while others suggest Draft N. We'd hope for the latter, as it would allow for smoother playback of HD media.

Supposedly the set will also be able to connect directly to the Internet to stream video directly, although there's no confirmation of that. Moreover, it will need to offer a decent range of codec support if it is to tempt customers. LG isn't forthcoming with any more information than what's already available right now, but if it's successful we wouldn't be surprised to see other manufacturers jumping on the bandwagon soon.
