I think I may be developing a small obsession with Sharp. Not only is its latest offering of HDTVs rather tasty-looking, to say the least, but the company also seems set on proving it knows how to make HD players as well. While it isn't uncommon to see PVR systems around currently offering 100GB or even 200GB - the DB-HDW20 manages to pack in a hefty 1TB of hard drive space.

Of course it's all well and good having all those hours of recorded video but even the largest libraries gets full eventually. So, it's good to see the AQUOS is also capable of writing to dual layer (50GB) Blu-ray discs as well as DVDs. The systems also looks good, at least on paper, as a HD player as well, offering full 1080p playback at both 60 and 24fps, as well as DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD.

Initial launch is scheduled for the 1st of December in Japan, while the rest of the world will have to wait a little longer. There is also a slightly lower capacity, 500GB, model available, called the DB-HDW15, which should lessen the blow to the wallet slightly, while retaining all the other features.
